Feeling bored at home during the Spring Festival this year, I built guardrails for the abandoned pond. Filled with soil, I planted flowers and vegetables. After half a year, the tomatoes I planted came to fruition, so I planned to use them for cooking.
Making Tomato Sauce
Tomato sauce is something I make every year. Choose the kind of tomato with large berries, cut it in half, add sugar to pickle tomato syrup. Then put it in a pot and boil it until it becomes sticky. After cooling to room temperature, add honey and mix well. That’s it for the tomato sauce.
To eat ketchup, I made fries. Because I still have a lot of potatoes at home, I tried my best to consume them. After I cut the potatoes into small strips to wash off the starch, put them in a pot of boiling water to boil, then put them in cold water, and then fry them to your liking.
Making Tomato Hot Pot
I ended up making a tomato hot pot. I soaked the peas, cooked them for later use, and peeled and chopped the tomatoes. Put the bay leaves, white kombu, onion, ginger garlic, soaked ginger, etc. into the pot and fry until fragrant, then add chopped tomatoes and stir fry to get red tomato oil. Then add the peas that were boiled before and fry together, and finally add water, salt and sugar to boil tomato soup.
While cooking the soup, I prepared hot pot ingredients such as egg dumplings, fish balls, meat balls and fresh vegetables. After the tomato pot is boiled, filter out the tomato residue and spices in the thick soup, and the bottom of the tomato pot is done.
